Stats from the experts at Opta reveal that Moyes beats Van Gaal in almost every department. After his first 10 Premier League games as United boss, the Dutchman's side sit 10th in the table, with 13 points.
Van Gaal oversaw an early exit from the Capital One Cup at the hands of MK Dons - but otherwise he has been able to focus solely on top-flight action.
But at this point last season, the much-maligned Moyes was performing better across the board. The Scot had picked up 17 points from a possible 30, four more than Van Gaal.
Moyes' men had won five of their first 10 Prem games, while Van Gaal has tasted victory just three times. The former Everton boss achieved a better shots on target percentage of 48.15, compared to the current manager's 43.93 per cent.
